Artist's Description

It was fun, but a little scary, doing this one. I painted it, then destroyed it by pulling a brush through the painting in every direction, then carefully rebuilding parts of it. I like the soft edges. Palette knife painting on Arches paper for oils, mounted on Crescent mat board.

About Susan Woodward

Susan Woodward

A lover of nature, I constantly seek ways to convey my deep love of the landscape, along with the feeling of spirit and serenity it gives me. My goal, whether painting or photographing, is to convey the richness of the landscape, the layers of color, the textures, the feeling of vastness and the transcendent feeling of being alone in the beauty of nature. I was a Realtor for 23 years, in Massachusetts and North Carolina. After retirement, I sold everything and became a full-time RVer for four years, traveling the US and a bit of Canada. Most of these photographs were taken during my travels. At present, I'm happily settled in Tucson, AZ, and spend most of my time painting, drawing and writing. Any watermarks that appear online...
